It is classed as a World Heritage Site and thought to be a place of healing, as well as an astronomical clock and a religious site. After enjoying the ancient wonder of Stonehenge, your private day tour completes with an encapsulating tour of the city of Bath, which boasts spectacular Georgian architecture and more listed buildings than London! With its 1,500 listed buildings from every major period of British architectural history, your visit will be truly inspirational. Plus, you can walk in the footsteps of famous students from C.S. Lewis to Bill Clinton as you take in the captivating college courtyards and cobbled lanes with your knowledgeable local guide.

Leeds Castle, Canterbury & Dover

This day tour begins with a visit to Leeds Castle, which (despite the name) is in Kent and not Leeds. It is surrounded by 500 acres of parkland and a glossy lake, and has been described by many as the loveliest castle in the world. Indeed, it was an idyllic haven for the royals – Henry VIII once lived here with Catherine of Aragon. During this private guided visit, our tour guide will show you how the Tudors lived at the spectacular fortress and you can even sample a glass of mead at the recently refurbished Gatehouse – this tipple is a type of sweet wine made by fermenting honey and is one of the oldest alcoholic beverages ever made. After such a sweet treat, it’s time to discover Canterbury, which is steeped in Medieval history and dominated by its breath-taking cathedral. It’s the oldest in England and considered to be the center of English Christianity. As a part of this private day tour, you’ll visit the towering structure and learn about Archbishop Thomas Becket (also known as Saint Thomas of Canterbury), who was murdered at the cathedral in 1170. Despite its sometimes tragic past, the cathedral has many visual treasures, from the colorful stained-glass windows to the secret crypt, and it is home to 21 bells in total – the oldest being Bell Harry. Next, we’ll whisk you in a luxury vehicle to the stunning White Cliffs of Dover, which are a magnificent coastal site overlooking the English Channel that have stood loyally throughout invasions and two World Wars. You can see reminders of this at the newly opened Fan Bay Deep Shelter, a complex of Second World War tunnels hidden within the chalk. Perched on the cliffs is the historic Dover Castle, one of the largest castles in England displaying traces from the Saxon and Norman times to Napoleonic and the 20th-century World Wars.
